Fundamentals of Composite Tooling & Moulding Classroom Training Programme | 2 Days

Programme Schedule & Location

Week 12, 2026

9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

LICT, Halol (Gujarat)

The Fundamentals of Composite Tooling & Moulding is a 2-day classroom training programme designed to build strong foundational knowledge of composite tooling systems and moulding practices used in industrial manufacturing.
The programme introduces participants to tooling roles, materials, design principles, mould construction, surface preparation, and tooling requirements for key composite processes. It further covers tooling defects, inspection, repair, maintenance, and storage practices. The programme blends classroom learning with demonstrations to ensure participants develop practical, shop-floor–relevant understanding of composite tooling systems.

  • Junior to mid-level engineering professionals from Design, R&D, Production, Process, Quality, and Maintenance functions
  • Tooling engineers and mould makers
  • Composite manufacturing engineers and supervisors
  • Quality engineers, inspectors, and NDT personnel
  • Maintenance and workshop teams handling mould preparation and repairs
  • Cross-functional teams (CFT) supporting composite projects
  • Professionals transitioning into composite manufacturing or tooling roles
  • Classroom sessions
  • Video demonstrations
  • Presentations and sample handling
  • Interactive discussions and Q&A
  • End-of-program quiz

No prior technical background or industrial experience is required.
Participants should have basic language comprehension (Hindi or English) and familiarity with general safety practices.

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the role and types of composite tooling used in prototype, low-volume, high-volume, and high-temperature applications
  • Select appropriate tooling materials including FRP, aluminium, steel, epoxy boards, silicone, and Invar based on application needs
  • Apply core tool design principles such as draft angles, parting lines, tolerances, and shrinkage allowances
  • Understand FRP mould construction steps including pattern preparation, gelcoat application, laminate build-up, stiffening, and curing
  • Prepare mould surfaces using gelcoats, release agents, sealing, and conditioning techniques Understand tooling requirements for processes such as VARTM, infusion, open moulding, and RTM/LRTM
  • Identify common tooling defects and understand their causes and prevention Perform basic mould repair, maintenance, storage, and handling practices
