Advanced Training Program on Aerospace Prepreg Composites

The aerospace and advanced composites industry is rapidly transitioning towards high-performance, lightweight, and certifiable structures — demanding expertise not only in manufacturing but also in material science and simulation-driven design.

While most professionals have limited exposure to wet layup or basic composites, there is a significant gap in scientific understanding of prepreg systems, cleanroom practices, material lifecycle management, precision manufacturing, and FEA-based design validation.

This 5-day intensive program bridges that critical gap — combining theory, hands-on practice, and simulation concepts to build future-ready composite professionals aligned with AS9100 benchmarking standards.

  • Simulation exposure using Abaqus (FEA fundamentals)
  • Real-world case studies based on actual shop-floor processes
  • Documentation and traceability exercises aligned with industrial practices
  • Q&A and discussion-based learning with industry experts
  • Basic understanding of composite materials (wet layup exposure preferred)
  • ITI / Diploma / Engineering Degree, or
  • Relevant industry experience in manufacturing environments
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
  • Understand composite material behaviour and scientific selection methodology
  • Apply cleanroom and controlled environment practices for aerospace-grade production
  • Manage prepreg storage, shelf-life, out-life, and thawing procedures
  • Execute precision ply layup and laminate stacking with correct orientation discipline
  • Perform vacuum bagging, leak testing, and ensure vacuum integrity
  • Understand autoclave curing cycles, process control, and demoulding practices
  • Identify common defects (voids, delamination, resin-rich/lean zones) and apply root cause prevention
  • Implement process documentation and traceability aligned with AS9100 standards
  • Gain foundational exposure to composite design principles and FEA-based structural validation using Abaqus

Certification

Participants will receive an LICT Certificate of Participation upon successful completion.
