Fundamentals of Silicon Vacuum Bagging Infusion Process

This 2-day classroom training program is designed to combine strong technical expertise with practical industry application in resin infusion using silicone vacuum bagging systems.

Participants will gain hands-on knowledge of process design, material selection, and defect control - while understanding how to improve productivity, reduce consumable costs through reusable silicone systems, and achieve consistent, high-quality output.

The program highlights real industrial challenges and solutions, enabling organizations to enhance operational efficiency, minimize rework, and adopt a more sustainable, cost-effective manufacturing approach.

  • Shop-floor technicians, process engineers, production supervisors, and quality engineers
  • Operators and technicians currently working or aspiring to work in composite manufacturing
  • Freshers and graduate engineers from Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer, Materials, Production, and related disciplines
  • New employees or trainees entering the composite manufacturing industry
  • New employees or trainees entering the composite manufacturing industry
  • Students and trainees from schools, colleges, and ITIs aspiring to build a career in composites
  • Classroom sessions with presentations, videos, and sample demonstrations
  • Process overview walkthroughs covering Hand Lay-up, RTM, VARTM, Filament Winding, Autoclave, Prepreg, and Silicone Bag Infusion
  • Science of silicone - understanding why it is the superior choice for reusable membranes
  • Silicone bag fabrication - consumables and manufacturing protocols
  • Full hands-on exercise: complete layup preparation, silicone bag installation, vacuum line connection, leak testing, resin infusion, and demoulding
  • Comparative analysis - Pros vs. Cons across cost, production speed, part complexity, and material waste
  • Sustainability and efficiency focus - eliminating plastic waste, reducing labour, and evaluating economics of reusable tooling
  • Awards and LICT certificates upon successful completion
  • Understanding of Hindi, English, or a regional language
  • Familiarity with basic general safety practices
By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the principles of silicone vacuum bagging and resin infusion processes
  • Identify and select appropriate composite materials, reinforcements, resins, and consumables compatible with silicone bagging
  • Perform a complete silicone vacuum bagging setup independently
  • Execute layup preparation, silicone bag installation, vacuum line connection, and leak testing
  • Monitor the infusion process and carry out demoulding correctly
  • Identify and troubleshoot common defects - dry spots, bridging, wrinkles, and resin flow issues
  • Apply do's and don'ts of silicone bagging for operational excellence
  • Compare silicone bagging against conventional methods across cost, speed, and quality
  • Improve process efficiency, reduce consumable costs, and adopt sustainable manufacturing practices

Certification

Participants will receive an LICT Certificate of Participation upon successful completion.
